Our Story
Founded in 1931 during the Great Depression, Sandpipers emerged from the compassion of South Bay residents Mary Wilke Kellogg, Ann Cox, and Blanche Hazard. They rallied a group of young women to provide confidential assistance to those facing temporary financial hardships, starting with a bread line in Hermosa Beach. Today, Sandpipers is a 100% volunteer organization committed to uplifting the South Bay community through various charitable and philanthropic programs.
