Our Story

Founded in 1931 during the Great Depression, Sandpipers emerged from the compassion of South Bay residents Mary Wilke Kellogg, Ann Cox, and Blanche Hazard. They rallied a group of young women to provide confidential assistance to those facing temporary financial hardships, starting with a bread line in Hermosa Beach. Today, Sandpipers is a 100% volunteer organization committed to uplifting the South Bay community through various charitable and philanthropic programs.

Impact

Since its inception, Sandpipers has positively impacted thousands of individuals, children, and families in the South Bay area, providing over $310,000 in scholarships and countless hours of community service.
