About San Francisco Senior Center
The San Francisco Senior Center, established in 1947, is the first nonprofit senior center in the United States. Founded by Charles Rose, it was created to combat isolation among older adults by providing a welcoming space for socialization and community engagement. Located in Aquatic Park, the center has evolved from its humble beginnings in a former bathhouse to a vibrant hub for seniors, offering a variety of programs and services.
