Our Story
Founded in 1976, the San Francisco Dog Owners Group (SFDOG) emerged from a passionate community of dog lovers advocating for off-leash recreation. In 1997, the organization formalized its efforts in response to the closure of Ocean Beach to off-leash activities, striving to enhance the lives of dogs and their owners.
Impact
SFDOG has successfully protected off-leash access in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and various parks managed by the SF Recreation and Park Department. Through workshops and educational seminars, SFDOG addresses dog behavior issues and promotes responsible ownership.
