Our Story

In 1995, the Community Stewardship Council recognized a critical need for respite care in Howard County, Indiana. Volunteers Jane Brown and LaVerne Grothouse spearheaded the formation of a local group of Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, leading to the establishment of Samaritan Caregivers in 1997. Through community collaborations and support, the organization has flourished, becoming a United Way agency in 1999 and relocating to its current facility in 2004.
