Our Story

The Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation was founded in 1983 in Miami, Florida, by a dedicated group led by Mr. Luis Poma. Concerned about the social issues affecting El Salvador, they established a sister foundation, FUSAL, in 1985 to facilitate aid distribution. In 2001, the foundation's name was changed to reflect its commitment to humanitarian aid and development work. The Poma family continues to support SAHF, which administers five human development programs in collaboration with FUSAL.
