Our Story

The Saluda Community Land Trust was founded in 2007 by a group of dedicated citizens who recognized the urgent need to protect Saluda's agricultural and forest lands. As development encroached upon these vital spaces, the community came together to ensure that future generations could enjoy the beauty of nature. With the support of the Polk County Community Foundation, SCLT has successfully created 8 nature parks that are now open to the public, providing essential green spaces for recreation and conservation.

Impact

Thanks to the generous contributions from private donors, members, and various foundations, SCLT has preserved over 286 acres of natural land. This significant achievement not only protects the environment but also enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
