Our Story

The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group is dedicated to the protection and humane management of the iconic Salt River wild horses in the Tonto National Forest, Arizona. Born from a public outcry against the potential removal of these majestic animals, SRWHMG has established legal protections under the Salt River Horse Act, working in partnership with the Arizona Department of Agriculture.

Impact

Through a humane fertility control program, SRWHMG has successfully reduced the foaling rate from over 100 foals a year to just one or two. This initiative ensures a balanced population that thrives in its natural habitat.
