Our Story

The Santa’s Helper Program began in the early 1970s, initiated by a compassionate group of mothers in Salisbury. Betty Cloonan was instrumental in establishing this heartfelt initiative, which aimed to provide Christmas gifts to children from families facing financial hardships. Over the decades, the program has evolved, with Betty leading the charge for over 40 years until her health declined. Despite challenges during the pandemic, the Salisbury Lion’s Club has revitalized the program, ensuring its mission continues to spread joy to children during the Christmas season.
