Our Story
In 2004, a group of passionate volunteers united to tackle the heartbreaking issue of homeless and unwanted cats in Salem, Oregon. With limited resources available for rescue, spaying, and adoption, these dedicated individuals took a stand. Their mission was clear: to reduce the overpopulation of cats in the area through community education and accessible spay and neuter services.
From humble beginnings with fewer than a dozen foster homes, the organization has grown significantly. In February 2021, Friends of Felines moved into a new facility in Keizer, featuring a 1,300 square foot adoption center, a hospital ward with a neonatal incubator, and a fully-equipped feline surgery suite. Today, the organization boasts over 200 volunteers and 10 paid staff members, all committed to enhancing the lives of cats and their human companions.
