Our Story

The Sakonnet Preservation Association, Inc. was founded in 1972 as the first private, non-profit community land trust in Rhode Island. Established by a dedicated group of residents, the organization aims to preserve the rural character and natural resources of Little Compton. Over the years, it has built a strong foundation of conservation experience, relying primarily on a volunteer workforce and donations to protect over 467 acres of land.
