Our Story
Safehome is a dedicated nonprofit organization founded in 1980 by Martha Hunt, who opened her home to a neighbor escaping domestic violence. Since then, Safehome has become a beacon of hope for survivors in Johnson County, providing essential services such as shelter, advocacy, and counseling. As the only intimate partner abuse shelter in Johnson County and the largest in Kansas, Safehome serves approximately 8,000 individuals each year.
