About SAFE Haven for Cats

Founded in 1994 by Pam Miller, SAFE Haven for Cats began its journey in a two-car garage, where the first 400 cats found loving homes. Over the years, this organization has grown into the Triangle’s first permanent no-kill shelter for cats, successfully orchestrating the adoption of over 16,000 cats and kittens and spaying or neutering more than 57,000 animals through its SAFE Care Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Impact on the Community

In the 2023-24 fiscal year alone, SAFE Haven adopted out 1,332 cats and kittens, sterilized 7,930 animals, and provided food to hundreds of families through its Pet Food Pantry. The organization also temporarily housed 275 cats in foster care, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.
