Our Story

Safe Black Space Community Healing Circles began in April 2018, responding to the heightened racial tensions following the tragic killing of Stephon Clark, an unarmed Black man, by Sacramento Police. This initiative aims to create a safe environment for Black individuals to process their emotions surrounding systemic racism, offering healing circles led by trained local practitioners and community activists.

Our Impact

Since its inception, Safe Black Space has effectively addressed the racial trauma experienced by the community, providing essential support to participants in Sacramento. Approximately 25 volunteers have been trained to facilitate small group discussions, employing culturally relevant strategies to aid in healing from both historical and contemporary wounds.
