Our Story
In 1976, twelve dedicated women gathered at the YWCA in Reading, Pennsylvania, to address the urgent needs of victims of domestic violence. These pioneers founded Berks Women in Crisis, which evolved into Safe Berks in 2016, reflecting a commitment to serve all survivors, including men, women, and children. Their relentless efforts have provided thousands with lifesaving services such as shelter, counseling, legal assistance, and education.
