Transforming Lives at the Sacramento Youth Center
Founded in 2019 by dedicated educators Adam and Raquel Shipp, the Sacramento Youth Center (SYC) emerged from a profound need for a welcoming space where youth could thrive. With years of experience in public schools and a passion for mentoring, the Shipps recognized the challenges faced by transitional age youth in the Del Paso Heights area. Their journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a center where students could access quality mentoring and support any day of the week.
From humble beginnings in a small office with just a ping pong table, SYC has grown into a vibrant 15,000 square foot facility dedicated to nurturing the potential of over 1,000 students. The center offers a variety of programs, including mentoring, job training, and mental health support, all designed to empower youth to become the best versions of themselves.
Making an Impact
Since its inception, SYC has significantly increased after-school program attendance and provided a safe haven for students to connect, learn, and grow. The center fosters an environment where mentoring happens naturally, whether through engaging activities like ping pong or simply relaxing on a couch with friends.
