Our Story

The Sacramento Homeless Organizing Committee (SHOC) amplifies the voices of the homeless and low-income community in Sacramento, advocating for economic and social justice. Through initiatives like the Homeward Street Journal, SHOC empowers homeless individuals by providing them with leadership development opportunities.

Impact

In 2016, SHOC sold 21,890 copies of the Homeward Street Journal, providing essential income to 73 active distributors. This initiative not only meets immediate survival needs but also educates the public on the pressing issues of poverty and homelessness.
