Our Story

Founded in 1983, S.A.F.E. Place emerged from a community need for a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Calhoun County. With the support of the Miller Foundation and dedicated volunteers, the organization opened its doors to provide a safe haven for those in crisis. Over the years, S.A.F.E. Place has expanded its services to include comprehensive support for victims of intimate partner violence and sex trafficking.
