Our Story

The Rutherford Swim Association was born from the passion and dedication of Mike Lazzara and Chris Dunn, lifelong residents of Rutherford. As competitive swimmers for the Rutherford High School team during its undefeated 2008 season, they forged a lasting friendship that propelled them into collegiate swimming. In 2019, they took the reins of the Rutherford Community Aquatic Center, partnering with the Rutherford Board of Education to revitalize the facility and launch a variety of swimming programs. Their vision is to provide every swimmer with the experiences that foster a lifelong love of swimming, creating an inclusive community where individuals of all ages and abilities can discover their competitive spirit.

Our Impact

At Rutherford Swim Association, every swimmer is given the chance to explore their competitive potential. With programs tailored for all skill levels—from aspiring USA swimming team members to participants in our special needs program and Special Olympics training—RSA fosters a supportive environment. Proven training methods help build confidence and self-awareness, ensuring that every swimmer feels valued and empowered.
