Self-Help Homes was established to tackle the pressing issue of affordable housing in rural Summit and Wasatch Counties, Utah. Initially a non-profit arm of the Housing Authority of Utah County, it became an independent organization in 1998, recognized by HUD as a Community Housing Development Organization. Through partnerships with various local, state, and federal entities, Self-Help Homes has successfully completed numerous affordable housing projects.

With a remarkable achievement of constructing 619 homes, Self-Help Homes has saved families an average of $45,000 by eliminating contractor fees, allowing them to build equity through their own labor.
