Our Story

Roy’s Kids is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana, founded in 2010 by Michael Sean Powell in memory of his late brother, Roy. Growing up in a single-parent household, Michael experienced the financial struggles that many families face, especially during the holiday season. This personal journey inspired the creation of Roy’s Kids, aimed at ensuring that children from low-income families do not miss out on the joy of Christmas and essential opportunities throughout the year.

What began as a small initiative to provide Christmas presents has blossomed into a year-round effort. Roy’s Kids supports children through various programs, including providing school supplies, backpacks, and bicycles. The organization operates entirely through the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of donors, connecting with families in need and ensuring that children receive gifts tailored to their specific desires.
