Our Story

Rose Pak was a pioneering community leader and advocate for San Francisco's Chinatown for over 45 years. After moving from Henan, China, to San Francisco in 1964, she became the first Asian American woman reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle. In 1982, she began her impactful work with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, laying the groundwork for the Rose Pak Community Fund, established in 2017. This fund continues her legacy by championing affordable housing, preserving Chinatown, and enhancing access to quality healthcare and education.

Since its inception, the Rose Pak Community Fund has awarded over $720,000 in grants to initiatives that uplift the Chinatown and AAPI community, focusing on economic vitality, public health, education, and civic engagement.
