Our Story
Founded in 1964, the Rome Youth Hockey Association (RYHA) has been a cornerstone of youth sports in Rome, NY, providing thousands of children with the opportunity to enjoy the exhilarating sport of ice hockey. Originally incorporated as the Fort Stanwix Hockey Association in 1969, the organization proudly returned to its roots as the RYHA in 2001, adopting the beloved name of the Rome Grizzlies. Over the decades, RYHA has nurtured countless players, many of whom have advanced to compete at the high school level and beyond, including Division I, II, and III college programs, and even professional ranks. The Rome Grizzlies offer a comprehensive range of skating and hockey programs, including the Initiation Program, Mini-Mites, Mites, Squirts, Pee-Wees, Bantams, Midgets, and Women’s teams, all hosted at the welcoming John F. Kennedy Civic Arena.
