Our Story

Founded in 1977, the Rogue Valley Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association began as a small group of passionate pilots. The inaugural Starthistle Fly-in took place at Medford Baldy, marking the start of a vibrant community dedicated to free-flying. Today, RVHPA proudly stewards two world-class flying sites: Woodrat Mountain in Oregon and The Whaleback in California, serving as a hub for paraglider pilots and enthusiasts.

Our Impact

RVHPA plays a crucial role in promoting safe and enjoyable flying experiences in Southern Oregon and Northern California. By maintaining premier flying sites, the organization fosters a supportive environment for pilots of all skill levels.
