Our Story

In the late 1980s, visionary Lions Club members from Colorado and Wyoming recognized the urgent need for a comprehensive eye care center in the Rocky Mountain region. This dream materialized in 1991 with the establishment of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation (RMLEIF), which partnered with the University of Colorado to create a world-class facility dedicated to vision research, education, and patient care. By 2001, the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute (RMLEI) opened its doors, providing essential services to those in need.

With over $7 million contributed, the Foundation has significantly enhanced access to specialized eye care for low-income patients in Wyoming and Colorado, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent individuals from receiving necessary treatment.
