About Rock Paper Scissors Collective

Founded in 2004, Rock Paper Scissors Collective (RPSC) emerged from the vibrant artistic community of Oakland, California. A group of passionate artists recognized the need for a dedicated space where local talent could exhibit, sell, teach, and collaborate. In 2005, they established their first location at 2278 Telegraph Ave, co-founding the Oakland Art Murmur and organizing the 23rd St. Fair, which evolved into the popular Oakland First Fridays street festival. Despite facing challenges, including displacement in 2016 due to rising rents, RPSC has continued to adapt and thrive, launching a new location at 2120 MLK Jr. Way in 2021. The commitment to fostering art by and for the people of Oakland remains unwavering.
