Our Story
Founded in the early 1930s, the Rochester Water Ski Club has a rich history rooted in the love of water skiing. Originally starting as a small establishment known as Fisherman's Inn, the club has evolved significantly over the decades. In the 1950s, a dedicated team began performing water ski shows on Lake Zumbro, captivating audiences with their skill and creativity. By 1974, the club had established a partnership with Fisherman's Inn, allowing for weekly shows that showcased the talents of its members.
Throughout the years, the club has achieved remarkable milestones, including being the first in the world to execute a 4-tier pre-fabricated pyramid at a National tournament in 1995. The Ballet Line has consistently ranked #1 in the Region, and doubles acts have earned top honors at various competitions. In 2022, the club proudly celebrated 100 years of water skiing, honoring the legacy of Ralph Samuelson, the first water skier, who pioneered the sport in 1922.
Today, the Rochester Water Ski Club continues to inspire thousands of spectators and participants, fostering a community that values teamwork, competition, and lasting friendships. The club not only promotes the sport of water skiing but also engages with the community, encouraging inclusivity and youth development.
