The Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education (MIJE) was founded in 1976 to combat the systemic lack of diversity in the news industry. Established by a group of dedicated journalists, including Robert C. Maynard, the Institute focuses on desegregating newsrooms and enhancing the hiring and training of journalists of color. Through initiatives like the Maynard 200 Fellowship, MIJE empowers media professionals and advocates for equity in journalism.
