Our Story

The Roanoke Chapter National Railway Historical Society, established in 1955, is dedicated to preserving the rich rail heritage of western Virginia. With over 150 members, this vibrant organization focuses on the restoration of historical rail equipment and structures, particularly those related to the Norfolk and Western and Virginian Railways.

Our Impact

Through dedicated efforts, the Roanoke Chapter has successfully restored various passenger cars, freight cars, and the Virginian passenger station in Roanoke, completed in 2016. These projects ensure that the region's rail history is preserved for future generations.
