Founded in 1978 by Bernice Johnson Reagon and Amy Horowitz, Roadwork Inc. emerged as a multiracial coalition dedicated to promoting women’s culture and social change. By building access roads for artists involved in movements for Black civil rights, LGBTQIA rights, and environmental justice, Roadwork has fostered artistic collaboration across diverse communities.
