In 1910, Dr. Samuel W. Hobson recognized a critical need for healthcare in Newport News, Virginia. With the support of local leaders, he rallied the community to raise $30,000, leading to the establishment of a new 50-bed hospital. This commitment to meet the medical needs of the community has transformed Riverside from a small hospital into a comprehensive health system over the past century.
