Transforming Lives in Memphis

Founded in 1999, RISE Foundation emerged from a collaboration between the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, Memphis Housing Authority, and United Way of the Mid-South. The mission is clear: to break the cycle of poverty and its detrimental effects, such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, and unemployment. RISE stands for Responsibility, Initiative, Solutions, and Empowerment. Initially focused on public housing residents, RISE has expanded its reach to serve a diverse demographic, helping entry-level wage earners budget, save, and accumulate assets.

Impacting the Community

As of 2020, RISE has facilitated the purchase of 134 homes, 139 vehicles, and supported 38 small businesses. Additionally, 28 individuals have pursued higher education, and 110 computers have been provided to those in need. The transformative programs have significantly impacted the lives of Memphis youth, adults, and seniors, fostering hope and empowerment.
