Our Story

Richmond Community Services began in 1938 when Ellen Richmond, a compassionate nurse, took home babies with developmental disabilities who were left in the hospital. This act of kindness inspired the formation of the Richmond Children’s Center, which has since evolved to support both children and adults with developmental disabilities. In 1973, the organization moved to the former New York Cardiac Center in Yonkers, where it continues to provide essential services.

Our Impact

Today, Richmond Community Services operates 15 group homes, two day programs, and one large residential facility, serving the diverse needs of individuals throughout Westchester County, NY. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that those it supports live with dignity and lead fulfilling lives.
