Our Story

Richland County CASA, formerly known as the Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Project, was established in 1983 by the Junior League. Governed by a dedicated non-profit board, this program was integrated into Richland County Government in the mid-80s, ensuring maximum efficiency in serving the community. In July 2000, the organization adopted its current name to align with the National CASA Association, continuing its mission to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Richland County Family Court.

Impact

Every year, over three million children in the United States are reported as abused or neglected. CASA volunteers, appointed by judges, play a crucial role in recommending the best outcomes for these vulnerable children, ensuring they have the opportunity to live in safe, permanent homes.
