Our Story

Established in 1915 by Rev. Gibson, ReVive Center for Housing and Healing has been a beacon of hope for immigrants and the underprivileged in Chicago's Near West Side. Over the decades, the organization has expanded its services, especially during the Great Depression, to provide essential shelter, clothing, and food. In 1958, Rev. Higgins founded the addictions program, leading to the establishment of Higgins House, Illinois' first halfway house for individuals struggling with alcohol use. The acquisition of Cressey House in 1970 further solidified ReVive's commitment to permanent supportive housing, making a lasting impact on the community.

Our Impact

ReVive has successfully transitioned 86% of participants to permanent housing, with 96% retaining their homes over the past year. Additionally, 100% of participants have maintained or increased their income or benefits.
