Our Story

The Reuben McMillan Free Library Association has a rich history dating back to the 1840s, evolving from a school-based library to a public library system. Officially established in 1880, it was named after Reuben McMillan, a key figure in its founding. The library has undergone significant growth and development, including the construction of its current Main Library in 1910, supported by a donation from Andrew Carnegie.
