Our Story

Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota, now known as Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest, began its journey in 1985 with a single homeless Golden Retriever. Found by Hank and Jane Nygaard, this dog inspired a mission that has since rescued and rehomed over 9,000 Golden Retrievers and mixes. With the support of dedicated volunteers and generous donors, RAGOM has expanded its reach beyond Minnesota to include Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Wisconsin.

Impact

Each year, approximately 300 dogs receive a second chance at life through RAGOM. Many of these dogs require extensive medical care, and all receive the necessary veterinary attention and socialization to ensure they find loving forever homes.
