Restore Native Plants

Our Story
Founded in 2013 by Dr. Ben Burton, Restore Native Plants emerged from a deep concern for the alarming extinction rates of local flora and fauna. Inspired by Douglas Tallamy's book, Bringing Nature Home, Ben recognized the vital role native plants play in sustaining biodiversity. This realization sparked a commitment to restore local habitats using native species, leading to the establishment of Restore Native Plants.
Impact on Local Ecosystems
Since its inception, Restore Native Plants has successfully revived native landscapes and supported local wildlife through various initiatives, including park clean-ups, landscaping consultations, and environmental advocacy. The team has identified 20 rare and endangered species in Ramapo Mountain State Forest, reporting these findings to the NJDEP to ensure their protection.
