Our Story
Kara Doan, a former math teacher in Chicago, discovered the alarming prevalence of human trafficking during a summit. Realizing that her students were at risk, she and her husband, Paul Doan, dedicated themselves to educating their community about the issue. In 2015, they founded Restoration61 to offer emergency services to individuals escaping sex trafficking. With a passionate team of volunteers, they began supporting victims on their recovery journeys. Over the years, Restoration61 has evolved from a volunteer-based organization to a full-time staff model, thanks to several grants. Today, it provides comprehensive wrap-around services to over 3,500 victim-survivors, helping them reclaim their lives and freedom.
