Our Story

In 2017, former World Chess Champion and Russian dissident Garry Kasparov recognized the urgent need to defend democracy. With increasing radicalism threatening rational discourse in America and the backsliding of democracies worldwide, Kasparov united a diverse group of leaders, including Democratic Senators, Pulitzer Prize-winners, and former political figures, to establish the Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI). This non-partisan organization is dedicated to advocating for democratic ideals and combating authoritarianism.

Impact

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, RDI has donated over $12 million in humanitarian aid, including essential supplies like Meals Ready-to-Eat and portable water filtration units. This aid directly supports frontline communities, ensuring their safety and resilience.
