Our Story

The Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham was founded in 1992 by Mr. Leslie Dunbar and Rev. Mel Williams. This interfaith and inter-racial organization empowers neighbors impacted by community violence and the criminal legal system through practices such as vigil ministry, support circles for returning citizens, and restorative justice initiatives.

Impact

RCND actively supports homicide survivors and facilitates reentry for individuals exiting incarceration. Their initiatives foster healing relationships and community support, significantly impacting the lives of those affected by violence and incarceration.
