Welcome to the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center

Since 1993, the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC) has been dedicated to empowering refugees and immigrants in Boston, Lynn, and Worcester. Formerly known as the Somali Women And Children’s Association, RIAC proudly celebrates 30 years of service. This grassroots nonprofit organization offers comprehensive support, including refugee resettlement, counseling, outreach, education, and various social services. The mission is clear: For Refugees, By Refugees. Together, RIAC works to foster cultural development, socioeconomic growth, and self-sufficiency, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Impact on the Community

Each year, RIAC welcomes around 200 refugees from diverse nations such as Bhutan, Iraq, Congo, Syria, Afghanistan, Burma, Somalia, and Ethiopia. The services provided link individuals and families to essential resources, benefits, and counseling, ensuring a smooth social adjustment and fostering resilience and progress.
