Our Story
Founded by former Redlands Animal Shelter supervisor Gayle Lipes, Redlands Friends of Shelter Animals (REDFOSA) began as a group of passionate volunteers known as the 'Non-Profit Friends of the Shelter'. Since its inception, REDFOSA has evolved significantly, changing its name in 2010 and receiving 501(c)(3) status in 2014. The organization initially focused on facilitating adoptions through outdoor events, but has since expanded its mission to include critical medical care for animals in need.
Impact in the Community
REDFOSA has made a profound impact in the Redlands community, growing from a small group of volunteers to a dedicated team of fifteen. The organization actively rescues animals from shelters facing euthanasia and manages feral cat populations through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs. With over $25,000 allocated annually for medical interventions, REDFOSA ensures that vulnerable animals receive the care they need to thrive.
