Our Story

Founded in 1997, the Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) began as a funder for 14 businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the years, it has evolved into the largest consultancy in employment social enterprise in the U.S., providing capital, capacity, and community support to over 260 enterprises across 41 states and Washington D.C.

Impact

Since its inception, REDF has generated over $2.5 billion in revenue and employed over 133,000 people from overlooked talent pools across the country. The organization measures its success through the social return on investment, reporting $2.23 for every dollar invested in social enterprises.
