Our Story

The RED Housing Fund was established in response to the housing crisis exacerbated by the October 2017 fires in Sonoma County. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Santa Rosa and the County of Sonoma, aimed at addressing the significant housing shortage while promoting sustainable, affordable housing development.

Impact

Since its inception, the RED Housing Fund has secured over $62 million in competitive public funding, resulting in the construction of 745 new affordable and mixed-income rental housing units. Additionally, the Fund has provided gap-filling loans to support shovel-ready projects in transit-rich areas, aiming to produce an additional 400-600 multifamily housing units.
