Our Story

Rebuilding Together began in 1973 in Midland, Texas, when a dedicated group recognized the urgent need for home repairs in their community. This grassroots initiative, originally named Christmas in April, gained national attention and led to the establishment of Rebuilding Together in 1988, evolving into a leading nonprofit focused on home rehabilitation and community revitalization.

Impact

According to the 2020-2021 impact measurement report, the majority of neighbors who had previously fallen did not experience further falls after receiving necessary repairs. An impressive 86% of respondents indicated an increased likelihood of aging in place post-repair. For every dollar invested, a projected $2.84 in social value is generated through enhanced health, safety, and independence.
