Our Story

MakeChange NoCo is dedicated to empowering low- and moderate-income taxpayers in Northern Colorado through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. Under the guidance of the Internal Revenue Service, these programs offer free tax return preparation and education, ensuring that individuals and families can navigate their tax obligations without the burden of costly fees. Our trained volunteers are committed to enhancing financial literacy and providing essential support to those in need.

Our Impact

During the 2018-19 tax season, MakeChange NoCo, in collaboration with VITA Loveland, assisted over 5,000 clients, preparing more than 7,700 federal and state returns. This effort saved taxpayers an estimated $1.2 million in preparation fees and helped them claim $6.7 million in refunds and tax credits, resulting in an overall economic impact exceeding $13 million.
