Our Story

Since 1995, Read Aloud America has been dedicated to reawakening a love for reading among adults and children. Founded by Jed Gaines, the organization began with a 'power lunch' program at Kahamanu Elementary School, pairing at-risk students with volunteer readers. This initiative inspired the creation of the Read Aloud Program (RAP), which has positively impacted over 354,000 individuals by promoting literacy and strengthening family bonds through the joy of reading aloud.

Our Impact

RAP has successfully served 354,028 adults and children, implemented 171 programs, and inspired 36,392 library visits, significantly enhancing family engagement in reading and literacy.
