Founded in 2016 by Maen Mahfoud, Replate is a tech-enabled nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and food insecurity. By connecting businesses with surplus food to nonprofits serving communities in need, Replate utilizes patented technology to facilitate food donations. Inspired by personal experiences with food insecurity in the Bay Area, the organization addresses hunger while also combating climate change through effective food recovery.
Replate has successfully recovered 3.9 million pounds of food, delivering 3.2 million meals to over 301 nonprofits. This effort has saved an astonishing 1 billion gallons of water and diverted 4,000 tons of CO2e, demonstrating a significant impact on food access and environmental sustainability.
