About Ravenswood Community Services
Ravenswood Community Services began as a humble outreach program of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Chicago’s north side Ravenswood neighborhood. In 1993, parishioners started distributing bags of groceries to about 20 neighbors in need each week. By 1998, this initiative expanded to include a weekly hot meal, quickly doubling and tripling the number of participants. In 2001, Ravenswood Community Services was formally established as a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency dedicated to alleviating hunger in the community.
Impact on the Community
In 2023, Ravenswood Community Services served 16,400 to-go dinners and facilitated 13,300 pantry visits, distributing an impressive 350,000 pounds of groceries. This demonstrates a significant impact on food insecurity in the community.
