Our Story
Raue Center for the Arts opened in 1929 as El Tovar, a vibrant movie and vaudeville theatre. Over the years, it has transformed into a cultural hub in northern Illinois, showcasing a diverse array of films and live performances. Thanks to the generous support of Lucile Raue, the theater underwent significant renovations, restoring its former glory and renaming it in her honor. Today, the center continues to host a variety of performing arts events and educational programs, enriching the community through the arts.
